Google panic mode complete...
Google is freaking out about ChatGPT.
The recent launch of OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT has raised alarms within Google, according to The New York Times reports. Now, the Times says Google has plans to “demonstrate a version of its search engine with chatbot features this year” and unveil more than 20 projects powered by artificial intelligence. This comes after the company laid off 12.000 employees last week.

OpenAI and Microsoft renew vows.
Microsoft on Monday confirmed it is making a “multibillion-dollar” investment in OpenAI, the company behind the viral new AI chatbot tool called ChatGPT.
Microsoft, an early investor in OpenAI, said it plans to expand its existing partnership with the company as part of a greater effort to add more artificial intelligence to its suite of products. In a separate blog post, OpenAI said the multi-year investment will be used to “develop increasingly safe, useful, and powerful AI.”

Nvidia to Win Big From ChatGPT Hype, Wall Street Predicts
In the weeks since the ChatGPT artificial intelligence tool took the world by storm, Nvidia Corp. has emerged as Wall Street’s preferred pick for traders seeking to profit from its potential.
The chipmaker’s stock has rallied 22% in the first three weeks of the year, placing it among the best performers in the S&P 500 Index. Contributing to the gains has been the hype around the chatbot released by OpenAI late last year that has demonstrated an uncanny capacity to mimic human writing.
The rationale is simple: Nvidia dominates the market for graphics chips designed for complex computing tasks needed to power AI applications. The more people use ChatGPT, the more computing power its owner OpenAI requires to generate responses to the millions of queries received from lazy students with essay assignments or struggling songwriters.

Term of the day. Transformer
A transformer is a type of neural network architecture that has been used for natural language processing tasks such as language translation and language generation. An LLM transformer is a transformer that has been fine-tuned on a specific task, such as language modeling. It is trained to predict the next word in a sequence given the previous words and can be used for various natural language processing tasks. Give it enough words; you get GPT3.
