Bungie Accidentally Showcases AI-Generated Destiny Image, Asks For Help Spotting Them
You can joke about fingers all you want. Still, the reason AI-generated imagery is perceived as a threat and not just an idle curiosity is its ability to pass for actual, human-created artwork. On the extreme end of the scale, that’s a threat to accurate news reporting, and on the more harmless end, it’s making life difficult for the community managers of popular video games.
Like Destiny, a game that, thanks to its huge and devoted player base, regularly shouts out the creators among that crowd by highlighting their movies and artwork. Last week, one of those artworks turned out to be an AI-generated image:

Microsoft's AI-Boosted Bing Can Run Rings Around Google Search
It's a gutsy move for Microsoft to challenge utterly dominant Google with its AI-boosted Bing search engine, but the results look promising. When trying the same queries on Google and the new Bing to see how well the latter search engine lives up to Microsoft's bold claims and if it matches the wow factor that came with the ChatGPT AI chatbot.

Neeva Brings Responsible, Citation-Backed AI-Powered Search to Europe
Advert and tracker-free search engine Neeva has launched NeevaAI in Europe, which harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver an experience that combines the best of large language models such as ChatGPT with the authority and timeliness of search.
Following a successful beta launch in the US in December 2022, NeevaAI is available to Free Basic and Premium users across the world from today. NeevaAI will be launching its English Language version in the UK and Canada, as well as local language versions in Germany, France, and Spain.
NeevaAI provides a single synthesized answer with linked sources pulled together from the most relevant sites for a query, allowing users to determine the authenticity and reliability of the cited sources. The feature offers current information by crawling hundreds of millions of pages a day and serving from its independent index of billions of pages. By combining AI with Neeva's in-house search stack that eschews ads and advertisers, results are fast, timely, bias-free, and relevant.
Why you shouldn’t trust AI search engines
Last week was the week chatbot-powered search engines were supposed to arrive. The big idea is that these AI bots would upend our experience of searching the web by generating chatty answers to our questions instead of just returning lists of links as searches do now. Only … things really did not go according to plan.Â
Approximately two seconds after Microsoft let people poke around with its new ChatGPT-powered Bing search engine, people started finding that it responded to some questions with incorrect or nonsensical answers, such as conspiracy theories. Google had an embarrassing moment when scientists spotted a factual error in the company’s own advertisement for its chatbot Bard, which subsequently wiped $100 billion off its share price.Â
What makes all of this all the more shocking is that it came as a surprise to precisely no one who has been paying attention to AI language models.Â
